Finding Parts and Information for Vintage Golf Carts.

Defined Tag:

Vintage golf carts are fun, and many still exist, either because they've just lasted the owner well, or they've been bought by the vintage golf carts enthusiast.

Parts for vintage golf carts may not be as easy to come by as for modern ones, but it is possible to find them. Vintage Golf Cart Parts (http://www.vintagegolfcartparts.com) claim to be the number one online source for 1979 and earlier vintage golf cart parts. This may well be true – in fact it appears to be near impossible to find anywhere else online! Many sites are listed as sources for parts, but all point back to this one.

The site is quite informative. As well as the actual catalog, it contains information about vintage golf carts, listed by manufacturer: Club Car. Cushman, E-Z-GO. Harley Davidson, Marketeer/Westinghouse, Melex Pargo, Taylor-Dunn, Yamaha and the Miscellaneous section. Under each manufacturer is a brief history and at least one picture. Also, some include wiring diagrams and serial number guides.

There is also a Museum Gallery on the site, containing pictures, articles and old advertisements about vintage golf carts, sorted by manufacturer. There is also listed a Classified section – presumably this is where people can buy and sell their vintage golf carts, but at the time of writing this is not available.

Vintage Golf Cart Parts' support section allows the sending in a technical request about your vintage golf carts and asks whether you want them to phone or email you back. You do not have to make a purchase, so if you have a query about your vintage golf cart, this may be the place to start.

Elsewhere online, Vintage Projects has the 1958 plans for building vintage golf carts (http://www.vintageprojects.com/go-kart/golf-cart-plans.html) written in two parts for Popular Mechanics magazine.

If you are looking for the answer to your vintage golf carts questions, you might like to try an online forum, such as the one at http://server1.buggiesunlimited.com/phpBB2/index.php. There are a number of manufacturer specific forums plus tips and tricks and 'Ask the Cartfixer'. While it is not limited to vintage golf carts, there are discussions about them and it is frequented by knowledgeable golf cart enthusiasts.
